With Royal Ascot in full swing, and the unveiling of Louis Vuitton’s very hat-centric F/W Campaign, it’s the perfect time to consider that Racing-Day staple: the hat.
I do love a beautiful hat- we all know that a good one will frame the face and add a little elegant drama to an outfit. In fact, it can transport your outfit to a whole other era or give it a completely different vibe.
Hats are about channelling your alter-ego in a way that’s as understated or bold as you like.
One of my favourite styles has to be the close-cut Cloche of the 1920s, although ironically, it’s the type of hat I’d be least likely to wear for fear I’d look costume-party ready :o
Now, I’m most likely to stick to a mannish shape such as the Trilby, or Panama, with a lovely wide-brimmed one reserved for the beach!
Best of all, they’re perfect for bad hair days of course, or when you feel like doing that whole ‘I-want-to-be-anonymous-to-the-world’ type thing ;)
