Sci-Fi meets Rococo

This is definitely one of the most interestingly styled editorials I’ve seen in a long time. The September issue of Flare magazine features avant-garde pieces by McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana and Louis Vuitton, showcased in opulent surroundings.

Where do I even begin with describing this incredible spread? Mad-scientist hair paired with clothes in sumptuous jewel tones comprise the look. You’d think the theme was strange, but it’s surprisingly coherent- there’s a lot of brocade throughout and the overriding feel is ‘baroque with a modern twist.’

The first picture is my favourite. Who knew a blunt cropped bowl-cut hairstyle would look so good?? And with those stunning Versace-esque print dresses and awesome sunglasses! Flare’s editor, Elizabeth Cabral (who styled the shoot), has clearly got a remarkable eye, and matched by the talents of hair and makeup artist Tony Masciangelo.

Do you guys like this editorial? I seriously can’t stop looking at it, and it’s given me some food for thought for a fancy dress theme that completely steers away from any clichés !  You can see the rest of the spread here.
