I was lucky enough to visit Hong Kong last year, and can tell you (if you haven’t been already), that if you can imagine what shopping heaven looks like, this city is IT.
Seriously, particularly on the Kowloon side of the city, skyscrapers feature malls within malls, you’ll stumble upon shopping complexes and markets you never realised existed, and if you find a shop you like, my advice would be to buy then and there, because unless you’ve got a superhuman sense of direction, chances are you’ll never find it again!
Speaking of IT, for me one of Hong Kong’s shopping it-factors has got to be the avant-garde concept type store, I.T. I happened to chance upon it in one of the city’s lively and popular shopping areas, Causeway Bay, and absolutely loved the mix of designers it housed.
I.T, Hong Kong
I.T features brands such as Band of Outsiders, A.P.C, Ann Demeulemeester and Tsumori Chisato. All the types of labels to satisfy your need for the achingly cool, set within stunning and futuristic surroundings.
Step outside, and you’ll discover a host of other boutiques offering similar things too! Nearby, there’s even a street called Fashion Walk, where you’ll find labels such as Isabel Marant, and independent boutiques stocking some great and offbeat European designers.
I couldn’t recommend Hong Kong more highly if soaking up a hedonistic atmosphere of consumerism is what you’re after! Just be sure to go with a bulging wallet, empty suitcase, and fuel up on some of the delicious cuisine before you indulge :D
