There were so many gorgeous looks at last night’s Met Ball- I love the fact that the event is a real fashion celebration and so more sartorial risks are usually taken. The presiding palette this year though was surprisingly autumnal- bordeaux lips, jazz age hair and plenty of high-octane metallic pieces. (Not a Schiaparelli lip in sight though, much to my disappointment!)

My favourites of the night were Camilla Belle in Ralph Lauren, Kate Bosworth in a Gucci ombre feather mini-dress, Candice Swanepoel in custom Rag & Bone, Poppy Delevingne in Chanel, and Liu Wen in Michael Kors. Dress of the night, for its sheer fashion credentials had to be Cate Blanchett’s Alexander McQueen ostrich feathered number.
