Perfectly Tailored

When I’m looking to update my collection of tailored pieces, there are a few brands I immediately head to. Cut is everything when it comes to smart workwear or classic items, and finding a brand that delivers on both is essential.

My favourite for such items is probably Reiss. Last October, it was the label I turned to straight away for my new season coat- and let me just say, it was definitely one of my best buys of 2012. Practical, flattering and warm- (80% virgin wool so not too bad!), it’s definitely kept me cosy and unobtrusively chic (hopefully!) throughout the colder months.

When I’m in need of THE perfect shirt, Reiss is the place. And for beautifully tailored trousers, there’s really no need to look elsewhere.  So I just had to compile an edit of my favourite structured pieces for this Spring- there are so many gorgeous new things in stock!

I’m currently loving Reiss even more at the moment after discovering John Lewis stocks them (I’m ALWAYS in John Lewis hehe)- they have a particularly large selection AND I’ve noticed they have a great amount of Sale stuff, which is always a plus!!

M.O.D

Fashion Month has arrived, and while all eyes are on the catwalk, mine are also on the street.

There’s something about seeing hoards of poseurs emerge from their blogger HQs, magazine offices and gilded hallways, that’s just (and I’ll admit it), always a little bit inspirational.

But what happens when you mix the catwalk with the sidewalk? The answer: “Models off duty.” As ever, it’s an overused phrase, but there’s simply no other way to put it. For me, M.O.D is my favourite type of street-style. There’s nothing more easy on the eye than seeing natural beauties in their own clothes walking around in between castings and shows.

By now, we’re all well versed to the obligatory M.O.D uniform of black biker ankle boots, shearling or leather jacket, and scraped back hair. It’s fresh, practical, and while on most people might look a little conventional, models of course are a species apart who can pull off this particular look.

I swear they can also make anything OTT look pared down. Take a pair of Louboutins for instance- a model might wear these dressed down with a white tee and ripped jeans and look effortless, whereas I can imagine that if I were to try mixing high and low in this way, I’d probably end up looking a bit “try-hard”, for want of a better expression.

However, it goes without saying that most of them tend to exude such chicness, I can’t help but admire from afar! And I can’t wait to see more and more pics as Fashion month continues :)
